The Grand ChallengeITC Millwork, Koetter Woodworking, and the Envision Millwork team were tasked with the ultimate design/crafting/construction/installation challenge under the direction of Kingswood Custom Homes and Schrader Design.
"You don't get there without walking a mile throughout the design process and being engaged, being challenged." ~ Harry Schrader, President of Schrader Design, Inc. Featured in Southern Home Magazine and Axios Charlotte's 2022 Home of the Year, this Lake Norman Luxury Cottage constructed by Kingswood Custom Homes is visually striking and built how a family lives. Panoramic to the waterfront, the Grand Salon is one of emotional comfort. "It's like being in one of those old manor houses in England where you've got one of these very long rooms, and it has character. I wanted it to feel like a home you could kick your shoes off and put your feet on the furniture. And we got there!" ~ Kathryn, Homeowner Architect Harry Schrader pushed the envelope by creating this room in a way he had never done before, challenging our team to fabricate and install walnut crown moulding approximately four feet wide. Crown moulding is commonly 9" wide in homes of similar ceiling height, and it is believed to be the largest crown constructed in the United States. After several mock-ups, the installation team of Envision Millwork got to work. It took them 16 weeks and countless hours, matching the grain pattern of the walnut paneling perfectly and meticulously bracing the massive crown moulding into place, hiding each seam effortlessly, even concealing a TV. The results are breathtakingly stunning. The warm, rich chocolate walnut crown and paneling set this home apart. We're thankful to have creative visionary architects and building partners who challenge us to pull off extraordinary rooms like these.
