What’s a Setup Charge?
Typically, most manufactures require a large quantity to be purchased of a custom trim item. This is sometimes a 1,000 lineal feet or even more! We’ve done away with such stipulations & allow you to order what you want in the quantity you want. However, to help offset the associated costs of running smaller quantities to order, we include a nominal Setup Charge to account for machine setup, design & new item allocation, lumber procurement & processing, ripping lumber blanks to size, bundling & staging.
What is a Tooling Charge?
Tooling is either High Speed Steel or Carbide knives that cut profiles into wood to make the items required. We have thousands of profiles already tooled up & ready to run at no extra charge for the tooling itself. In the case where someone requires a custom item that has never been tooled up for, we have the item template, which requires the tooling machinery. The tooling cost varies by size & the number of knives needed. Invariably, once an item is produced the tooling is stored for future use. Should the same product be needed of this same profile again, the tooling charge would not be incurred.
Do you install?
No, we do not offer installation. However, we work closely with many, if not all, of the top installation companies in our primary markets & can offer referrals upon request.
Do you offer painting & staining? (pre-finishing)
No, typically we do not. Many of the items we carry are offered pre-primed in a flat white color. Some door items are available pre-stained from the manufacturer. Please call for more details.
Can you repair doors & trim?
In some cases a repair may be feasible, especially when dealing with an antique or one of a kind door item. In small quantities trim may be able to be repaired or refurbished. Please contact us with specifics & we can discuss to determine what can or cannot be done.
Can you repair furniture items, windows, general wooden household items?
No. While our craftsmen are extremely talented we limit their involvement to interior trim & door items.
Is there a minimum shop charge?
Yes, to maximize our craftsmen's time and to account for overhead costs necessary to process even the smallest Specialty Shop Order, our minimum shop charge is $125 + tax.
Do you sell exterior windows & patio doors?
Generally speaking, no.
Do you sell pressure treated pine?
We have suppliers who stock a limited selection of treated pine items. This is primarily S4S & a few commodity items only. Our primary stock items & all custom items are not available in treated pine
