Originally from Walton, New York, Rick's passion for sports has always been a driving force. Excelling in football, basketball, and baseball during his time at Walton High School laid the foundation for his athletic pursuits. Rick continued showcasing his athletic prowess at Cortland State University, competing in basketball and rugby.
Even post-college, Rick's commitment to sports remained strong. He emerged as a prominent figure in the rugby community, playing for esteemed teams such as the Windhover Hawks in Schenectady, New York, from 1991 to 1994. Later, he became integral to the Raleigh Vipers from 1995 to 2008, contributing to the team's crowning achievement as the 2007 USA Rugby national champions.
Transitioning seamlessly from player to coach, Rick generously shared his wealth of knowledge and passion for rugby. He served as a coach for Duke University from 2009 to 2011, where he nurtured young athletes to reach their full potential. Rick then returned to the Raleigh Vipers, coaching from 2012 to 2016, and later imparted his expertise to Campbell University in 2019, further shaping the next generation of rugby talent.
