On Friday, February 24, at an event in Atlanta coordinated by Southern Living Magazine, the Brooking Family learned that they would be receiving a home Mortgage Free. Under the leadership of our building partner, Jamison Howard, President of Max G. Crosby Homes, ITC Millwork is honored and blessed to give back to this family with Operation Finally Home, Southern Living Building Hope, the Carnes Crossroads Community, Our Town Plans, and Tanger Outlets by simply doing what we do every day.
U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Jeremy Brooking enlisted in 2005 at the age of 18 and was deployed to Iraq in 2007. Jeremy married his childhood sweetheart, Tia; they were just 12-years-old when they met. Two months into his deployment, Jeremy was shot in the chest by a sniper. As a result of his injuries he had portion of his lung removed due to the bullet’s positioning and was left with permanent nerve damage. Once home, he quickly realized everyday tasks were no longer possible, and at 19-years-old, he had to rely on his wife for around-the-clock care. He was diagnosed with an anoxic brain injury, a result of the lack of oxygen to his brain after flat lining on medivac.
Jeremy received the Purple Heart among several other awards for his service and recently graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He is an amazing young man who has persevered through physical and mental hardships over the past 10 years, and has emerged as a strong leader to his wife Tia and two girls Mysia (5) and Ava (1.5). He is a true inspiration!
You can also give back to these brave men and women by making a one-time or recurring donation. Whether you can contribute or not, we invite you to come meet this family and take part in the events surrounding the construction of their home.
